Discipleship Training School
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is the entry school to Youth With A Mission international.
Who is it for?Everyone - there are a variety of DTS's run at Canberra catering for everyone. Do you want to see strong foundations established in your own life, cultivate a 'living' relationship with God, develop your own unique gifts and calling in God within a team environment and getting equipped for ministry and mission work? Over 35? This is an opportunity to give God six months to refocus, refresh, and renew you. Take time to seek God for your future - how will you impact the world during the rest of your life? You're never too young or too old to become involved in the purposes of God! What will I learn? The school has two components, a 12 week lecture phase, and 8 - 12 week outreach phase. The 12 weeks of lectures include small group discussions, one on one interaction with staff members, ministry to one another, worship, intercession and practical lectures given by experienced international speakers. Here is a list of some of the subjects:
Recognise Jesus as Lord: to strengthen your commitment to follow Jesus as Lord and to apply that commitment to personal lifestyle. Become more like Jesus: provide you with the knowledge and skills to establish an ongoing development of their attitudes, values and behaviour to reflect those of Jesus Christ. Do the works of Jesus: to challenge you with the 'Great Commission', to do the works of Jesus so as to defeat the enemy's strategies, to strengthen your commitment to reach the lost, to equip you to share the Gospel, and to encourage you to clarify with God your personal life direction and purpose.. Orientate to YWAM: give you an overview of the purpose, structure, history and foundational values of Youth with a Mission internationally, nationally and locally. The unit will also introduce you to the opportunities that are available for you for further study and ministry within YWAM after the completion of the course. This course is based on a ""live - learn" philosophy. Living in community during the school, you have a chance to learn within the context of a cross cultural community, not just within a classroom as you share meals together, do household chores around the property, etc. The second part, called the outreach phase runs from 8 - 12 weeks in length and it's where you put into practice the things you learnt during the lecture phase. This is where you get a chance to take the gospel to the nations! See the transforming power of God's love first hand not only in your own life but also in the lives of the people around you!! ![]()
